People PEOPLE. Lots happenin over here in my little world, still working on my solo album, Not Tonight, hoping to have that sucker out in the next few months. The Rosewood Bluff is also working on their third album, we've got new tunes galore, and a few shows coming up, Shakori Hills on Sunday, October 8 and the mighty Station in Carrboro on December 2 with our buds JPhono1 and the Melissa Swingle (Trailer Bride hero!) Duo. In other big news, the Two Dollar Pistols are doing another show, this time at the wonderful Garage in Winston-Salem on November 11 opening up for Sarah Shook and the Disarmers. I'm west coast bound at 4:30 AM tomorrow to do a string of dates drumming for Sarah and the gang, so check out the Disarmers site if you're in that neck of the woods. Big love to you all, hope to see you out there soon.
Northern-lvin' buddies! I'm headed your way for a couple of solo gigs opening up for my man Joe Pug! Tonight we're doing the Boot & Saddle in Philly, tomorrow night we're at City Winery in New York City! Tickets are gettin mighty low for both shows, so grab em while you can, I'd love to see you. Also, big Rosewood Bluff gig at the Station in Carrboro with super dude David Childers opening. And watch this space for exciting Two Dollar Pistols news coming soon! Peace and love, people.
Super stoked for our gig with our - er - amigos from Charlotte, Amigo! They'll be joining us Friday, September 23rd at the newly reopened Station in sunny downtown Carrboro, NC. Before that, me and Rosewood Bluff steel dude Nathan Golub will be playing a set opening up for longtime pals the Veldt at my beloved Cave in Chapel Hill on August 26. The duo show will include Two Dollar Pistols songs, Rosewood Bluff songs, a cover or two, and a few songs from the solo album I'm working on out at Rick Miller's Kudzu Ranch studio. Hoping to have the solo album - which, by the way, is called Not Tonight - out in the next six months, so keep an eye out for it. As always, we very much appreciate your support. Peace, and big love to you-
John Howie Jr. and the Rosewood Bluff will be at Saxapahaw Farmer's Market this coming Saturday (August 6th), music starts at 6pm. Look forward to seeing you there!
"Hancock, who tosses out a roots mix of old country, roadhouse blues, western dance swing, boogie bop, and straight-up Rockabilly, takes what was once old and makes it seem like it's always been and always will be."
We had a great time opening for Wayne back in 2015. We're honored to have been asked to open for him at his Pour House show on March 6th.

Lots of love,
Hey all you lovely Bluff fans, you!
It's that time of year again.... leaves turning, campfires, a chance for that one last ride on the Blue Ridge before it gets a little too cold. Personally, it's my favorite time of year. As much as I love the beautiful Carolina summertime, there are few things better than curling up with a cup of tea on a crisp fall evening.
Speaking of fall evenings, we have some wonderful shows lined up!
Coming up next Friday is Shakori Hills where we will be in the Cabaret Tent at 7:00 PM. It's always a fun time out there and everyone is always in a happy dancing mood. We'd love to see all your smiling faces there!
Here's to the season! Cheers, everyone!
